How many Baldrige awards are given each year, and what are the award categories?
The Baldrige program awards winners in manufacturing, service, small business, non-profit, education and healthcare. In a given year, there may be up to three winners per category. Baldrige seems to be really taking root in healthcare. In the past 3 years, healthcare applications have more than doubled, from 22 in 2004, to 45 in 2006—more than half of the total number of applications (86). In fact, there were almost three times as many applications in healthcare as in any other category.
