How many bags can participating establishments put out for collection?
Following consultations with the business community, we learned that the residential limit of four garbage bags per week placed limitations on those who wanted to participate in the Yellow Bag program, so we are increasing this to eight bags per building for Yellow Bag participants only. Where there is more than one participant in a building, the allotment of eight bags will have to be divided among the participants, the allotment of recyclables will also apply. This means that regardless of the number of tenants in the building, the total waste generated for that building could be up to eight garbage bags and 15 containers of recyclables per week. This will allow buildings with several tenants to participate in the program.
