How many babies can a hamster have in all?
Syrian hamsters can become pregnant at 5 weeks! If the hamster is a 1st time mother or is really young, she will have a smaller litter (ussally) and for young mothers small and weak. The gestation period for syrians are 16 days, for dwarf its 18-20 days. feed your hamster high protein food (boiled egg, veggies) She will build a nest and her behaviour will change (jumpy, doesnt like you touching her, storing lots of food) Clean her cage 1 week b4 shes due (leave her nest alone) And dont clean it til the babies are 2 weeks old. Give her some cut up pillow case for nesting supplies (in sqauares are best!) DO NOT TOUCH THE BABIES TILL THEY aRE 2 WEEKS OLD!!!
