It depends on which country you live in and what type of engineering that you want to do. For example if you are in UK and want to do Chemical engineering at the top academic universitie then consider Imperial, Loughborough and possibly Cambridge. They will all require evidence of a top perfroming student who not only can get high grades but who is also socially balanced and who has other interests in life. To be sure of getting in I suggest: 1. Excellent GCSE results probably minimum 8 As including some A*s. Subjects must include Maths, Physics, Chemistry, English. 2. At A Level minimum 4 grade As in Chemistry, Physics, Maths + another subject. 3. Evidence of initiative and motivation which could include summer jobs at engineering companies, work experience, high achievement at ports, leading social events, committees, charity events etc. The UK qualification system has become so downgraded that just getting the grades is not good enough.
