How many animals, healthy or otherwise, are euthanized?
According to the Las Vegas Humane Society’s latest published statistics (which includes the numbers from all shelters in the county), in 2004, 24,173 animals were euthanized which accounted for 42% of all the animals that came in and out of shelters that year. There was no data indicating what percentage of these euthanizations were done on healthy animals. Euthanization policies vary from shelter to shelter.
