How many animals have been affected?
On March 22, the Animal Medical Center in New York City, a top veterinary hospital, said that they already were aware of 200 cases of pets being affected by the contaminated foods and expected to hear of thousands more. At least 471 cases of poisoning already have been reported and 104 animals have died. The U.S. Food and Drug Administration says they have received more than 12,000 complaints about potentially ill animals. At least one human who ate the contaminated food also became sick.
