How many animals did OHS adopt in 2010?
OHS found homes for 11,054 animals in 2010, setting new records for the percentage of animals saved and the number of cats adopted. OHS’s adoption rate is consistently 3-4 times above the national average, in 2010 OHS overall adoption rate for all animals was 96 percent – a new high! The rate is even more impressive because it includes 4,058 animals transferred to OHS from 61 animal welfare agencies (such as humane societies and animal control agencies) in Oregon, Washington and California. These animals were given a “second chance” at finding a loving home through OHS when time and resources had run out at other shelters. When it comes to cats, OHS set new record for the overall cat adoption rate. Last year, 5,628 felines found homes through OHS, which was 95 percent of the cats available for adoption. OHS also adopts out rabbits, rodents and other small animals. 862 of these animals were adopted in 2010, which translates to a 95 percent adoption rate for these small furry friends. An
