How many American soldiers were in the Battle for Bunker Hill?
EXTRA CREDIT: *Was the first major battle of the Revolution. *Known as the Battle of Bunker Hill, it was geographically fought on Breed’s Hill. *To be accurate (must we?) There were no actual AMERICAN soldiers because when the 1775 Battle of Bunker Hill was fought it was still the “colonies” against the Brits. No matter what title was used at the time, I don’t think King George II was pleased much that the redcoats were beaten (badly). ***This is the battle known for a VERY famous saying by an officer to the militia: “Don’t shoot until you see the whites of their eyes” (meaning don’t jump the gun, so to speak. Muskets with mini-balls couldn’t shoot very far or accurately so it would pay to wait patiently until the enemy is within firing range.
