How many adults are uninsured in San Mateo County?
We estimate that between 56,000 and 62,000 San Mateo County adults have been uninsured in the past year. (Data source: The California Health Interview Survey (CHIS, 2003) and the San Mateo County Healthy Communities Collaborative Health and Quality of Life Survey [HQL, 2001 and 2003]). Approximately 36,000 to 44,000 of those uninsured adults live below 400% of the Federal Poverty Level (FPL). Based on 2007 FPL guidelines, this amounts to an annual income of $68,680 for a family of three.
