How many adult Chameleons can be housed in a cage?

0

Unless you are using a room, or a VERY large cage, you should never house more than one chameleon in a cage with another. Chameleons often do not show signs of stress when housed together long term, but eventually health problems which usually lead to deaths show up over a matter of months. It is recomended by all experienced keepers and breeders that they be housed individually. If you have a VERY VERY large enlcosure such as a green house, or use a room to free range them in, remove the gravid females to a private location in a cage. Stress on the gravid females will be a factor in her developing healthy babies and recovering after laying eggs. The male will also try to breed with her constantly and thus causing her too much stress. Quick answer: Don’t ever house them together, one or both will die.
