How many additional parking spots will Option 2 provide for use by the business community?
Additional parking for shoppers, visitors, business employees, commuters and government has long been a goal for the revitalization of Ardmore. Bringing more residents and commuters to Ardmore should help business vitality. Building new parking is extremely costly. The first priority must be to replace the surface parking spaces that will be lost from the Ardmore Station project. This consists of the SEPTA lot (104 spaces) plus Athensville Lot west of the PSB (78 spaces including 27 parking meters, 1 handicapped meter space, 47 Township and 3 other spaces) for a total of 182 lost parking spaces. SEPTA is providing at least $10M to the project and expects a total of 300 parking spaces for commuters (SEPTA and Amtrak) which results in +196 new parking spaces (300-104). The proposed Option 2 Main Street parking garage shows 503 total parking spaces, of which 300 will be for commuters (during the workday), leaving 203 for all other uses, plus about 16 on-street parking meters on Main Stree
