How many acres of land do we need to start a small dairy farm with 20 cows?
You will need more than 20 I would start with 40. You will need to cross fence it so you can let some grass grow. Too crowded they will make it a mud pit with nothing growing. Steers would take a little less because you can send them away and get younger ones in the spring. If you are in poor lands you will need hundreds of acres but if you can grow good crops you might do with less.
