How many Aboriginal and Torres Strait Islander people are there?
410,003 people identified as ‘Indigenous’ in the 2001 Census. • 366,429 of these were Aboriginal. • 26,046 were Torres Strait Islanders. • 17,528 identified themselves as both Aboriginal and Torres Strait Islander.
