How loud does NOISEBATH have to be to be effective?
This varies with room size and materials, speaker placement, target’s voice level and the particular location of the microphones or items reflecting the signal. We recommend introducing new users to NOISEBATH at a low level so they become used to the signal and then gradually increasing it to a level that is as loud as possible but acceptable to the participants. Also the closer the voices on the masking disc match the targets’ voices in characteristics, inflection, language, and dialect, the more effective NOISEBATH is and the lower it can be played to achieve the same level of protection. A rough rule of thumb is if a listener standing outside the protection zone can not understand what is said inside the bubble, then a surveillance system with a pickup in the same place as the listener will probably be defeated by NOISEBATH.
