How long would the U.S. technology sector survive without an adequate supply of chromium?
As long as there are countries that have this material there will be an export to the US. In terms of this kind of business, nobody cares about the political system the country has, the ideology or anything else. During the cold war, there were exports from USSR to USA and vice versa. E.g. I already saw tankers with the US-flag transporting oil from Venezuela to Havana in Cuba, etc. So as long as there is Chromium, it will be available in the US. If the material is running out or there are other effects that will let explode the prices for this, science will find other materials replacing this one.
