How long would it take me to learn mandarin;?
It really depends on how much exposure you’re going to get to the language. Learning a foreign language isn’t quite like learning your native language. I’ve been learning Chinese for 7 years and I’m not nearly fluent. The people who said it takes just a few months are crazy. lol I can communicate pretty much anything I want, but definitely not fluent. I really wouldn’t worry about becoming fluent as you don’t need to to be able to communicate effectively. Even just basic Chinese can get the job done. I’m going to say it’ll take you about 5 years at least to learn. Unless, you actually go to live and study in China, then you can learn a lot faster.
