How long would it take from San Francisco to Los Angeles on the Pacific Coast Highway?

It is called Cabrillo Highway or Hwy.1 not Pacific Coast Hwy. It will take you 9 or 10 hours to Los Angeles if you go all the way on Hwy 1 because it winds so much. I recommend stopping at Santa Cruz, Monterey, Carmel, Morro Bay (near San Simeon), San Luis Obispo, Solvang, Santa Barbara. The one iffy spot on the coast hwy is south of Pacifica toward Half Moon Bay, Hwy1 is on a cliffside and is narrow. I think you can stop and take pics somewhere there. The beach areas between Half Moon Bay and Santa Cruz are solitary and beautiful and deserted in the early morning. Pescadero Beach is rocky and looks like Hawaii.
