How long would it take for snow to melt?
Snow melting depends on much more than temperature. I have seen snow melt at rates of inches per day when it is 20 degrees F out. This was in Colorado. Because the sun is more intense there, and the snow was on a hillside facing the sun, it melting when the temperature was below freezing. Additionally, I have seen snow stay very deep and barely melting on 60-70 degree days because it is on a north facing slope, and is therefore in the shade. If the temperature will be in the 30s and there is a foot of snow in the higher elevations, then there will still be a 8 inches-a foot of snow in the trees on north facing slopes at the higher elevations. However, snow melts fairly fast on trees because they are more exposed, so I doubt snow will remain in the trees by Sunday.
