How long would it take for a spaceship to orbit around Mars?
Unfortunately, that completely depends on how fast the spaceship is going, how high it is over the surface, and the shape of the spaceship’s orbit… You haven’t given us nearly enough info to answer the question for you. The Mars Global Surveyor, orbited Mars from 1997 until 2006. While it was in orbit and transmitting telemetry it’s orbital period was 117.65 minutes in a near circular orbit. The Mars Reconnaissance Orbiter, which entered Mars orbit in 2006, and whose mission is scheduled to run until November 2008, initially had a highly elliptical (oval not circular orbit) whose period in 35.5 hours. It now has a much lower, more circular, and quicker orbit. So it depends on the speed, and alititude of the spacecraft and the shape or the orbit itself (circular or not).
