How long would a 6lb turkey cook in a fan oven?
The general advice is Heat the oven to 160 C Without foil allow about 2 1/2 hrs, With foil allow 3 1/4 hrs. Ovens can vary so it would be a good idea to check about half an hour before the end and every 10 mins. I have an electric fan oven. I have never cooked a turkey in it so I can’t say from experience but my instruction book states For a bird weighing less than 10 lbs, at 160 C, allow 10 mins per lb plus 30 mins, that’s only 1 1/2 hrs which doesn’t sound very long to me but I’ve seen 1 3/4 hrs on one site for a 6.6 lb bird.
