How long will the UV bulb last?
A. Actually there are two UV bulbs in the Akai Water Ionizer. Although you can see the reflection of the UV through a special viewing window, the unit’s special service diagnostic program (SDP) will alert you by displaying “UV change” in the window that normally displays the litre meter. It is unlikely you will see this because the UV lamps are rated at 2,500 hours of water flowing through (225,000 gallons) or approximately 20,000 times used. If you use the unit four times per day, it should last you 13.7 years thereby exceeding the 12-year life of the unit.
