How long will the stain remain testable?
First of all we’re always talking about dried stains and dried semen is a very resilient substance that can remain testable for very long periods of time or until the garment is washed. CheckMate is guaranteed to detect dried semen stains at least 9 months old so anything from a relationship setting is perfectly testable. If you’ve got a garment you’re thinking about testing simply store the item in a paper bag at normal room temperature until your test kits arrive.
Semen stains can remain present for very long periods of time. Though most people are only concerned with testing items that are thought to have recently been soiled, laboratory tests have revealed traces of semen on unwashed articles that were known to over 30+ years old. Remember, we’re testing dried stains and once the stain is dried on the material that’s exactly where it’s going to stay. Simply store the suspected article in a paper bag at normal room temperature until your test kits arrive.
