How long will the shower filter last and how many gallons will it filter?
The ability of any KDF shower filter to reduce chlorine is a function of the quality of the water (i.e. sediment and turbidity levels). As a result, it is difficult to measure precisely in gallons of water. KDF will dechlorinate longer in clean water than in murky water. While it is difficult to measure precisely, we can estimate average usefulness. We expect that the shower filter cartridge will have an effective life of nine to twelve months for a family of four, or an estimated 15,000 to 20,000 gallons of usage. When there is a decrease of the water flow from the filter the cartridge should be replaced. The shower filter body should last for several years with proper care.
