How long will the outbreak last?
During a flu pandemic, each area of the world is expected to be hit with up to three separate episodes of wide-spread infection, which are called “pandemic waves.” Each wave could span an 8-12 week period. For example, in Thailand there had been no new outbreaks for the past 8 months. However, two new cases were just report at the end of July 2006 in the country, potentially signifying the beginning of a new wave of outbreak in this area.
