How long will the eviction process take?

This depends on three factors: (1) if the tenant voluntarily moves out; (2) if the tenant answers the Complaint; and, (3) how much of a backlog there is with the Sheriff. After service of the Notice (which typically allows service of the Complaint after 4 days), if the defendant is served with the Complaint and does not respond we can obtain a judgment one week after service. At that point the only delays are the mandatory 3 business waiting period before the Sheriff can evict the tenant and how long after the waiting period before the Sheriff schedules an appointment.
