How long will the egg donation cycle take once I am matched with prospective parents?
On average, an egg donation cycle takes between 2-3 months to complete from start to finish. The length of time depends on how long it takes to complete the screening processes, legal contract, and to synchronize your menstrual cycle with the prospective parent recipient. Although this may sound like a long time, the most time-intensive part for a donor is actually the last 2-3 weeks. During this time, you will be taking daily medication injections (with a small needle). You will also need to attend approximately 8-10 medical appointments at your clinic to monitor the response of your ovaries to these medications. Most of these appointments occur daily during the last week of the cycle, therefore, you should have a flexible schedule during this time. Appointments are usually scheduled first thing in the morning (lasting approximately 30 minutes), and include a blood test to check your estrogen level and transvaginal ultrasound to check your ovaries.
