How long will the benefit continue into the future for a surviving spouse of a qualified disabled veteran?
A surviving spouse of a disabled veteran who qualified for the market value exclusion will receive the benefit of the valuation exclusion for one additional year after the disabled veteran has passed away or until the spouse sells, transfers, or otherwise disposes of the property, whichever comes first.
