How long will strep throat hurt after starting antibiotics?
My throat hurt for almost five days after I started antibiotics, but by day 3 I was in a little less pain. I was on the Z-pak which is only a 5 day course of antibiotics. It was kind of weird to me that my sore throat lasted the entire length of my treatment, but yours probably wont last the whole ten days. If your throat doesn’t feel at least a little bit better in a few days, I would call your doctor and let them know what is going on. Oh and tylenol (acetaminophen) is not an NSAID, but in too high doses it is toxic to the liver. Advil and Motrin are NSAIDs and are good to take. If tylenol works best for you then take it, but just don’t exceed 4000mg a day. That’s about 8 extra strength tylenol in 24 hours. Hope you get better soon.
