How long will red wine stay good after being opened?
A lot of bad answers on this one. 2-3 weeks? Ugh. Basically, wine will stay “good” as long as you think it tastes good. After some time, it will age and turn sour, like vinegar. What happens is that the wine reacts with air and oxidizes. There are also impurities in air that will react with the wine and make it taste different than when you opened it. But it is up to you to decide how long that takes to make you decide it tastes bad. You can make wine stay fresh by putting the cork back on. You can also refrigerate wine, just like milk, to make it stay fresh. You can let it sit outside again before you want to drink it to get it to a better temperature. You can also buy gadgets that suck out the air in the bottle, or add gas inside the bottle that replaces air. This keeps the wine tasting fresher longer.
