The term of your NNA Notary Signing Agent Certification and the accompanying background screening is two years. After two years, re-certification and an updated background screening will be required. • If I have recently become an NNA Certified Notary Signing Agent, what do I need to do? You have the option of adding the background screening to your NNA Certification. Your screening will be valid through your two-year certification period. • What if my certification expires in less than one year? Do I need to re-certify now? If your NNA Notary Signing Agent Certification expires four months to a year from now, you can simply apply for the background screening at this time. Your screening will be valid throughout the remainder of your current certification period and will remain valid through your next two years of certification, after you re-certify. If, however, your NNA Notary Signing Agent Certification expires within the next 90 days, you may go ahead and begin the re-certification
