I can certainly understand your upset. Just hearing the diagnosis, “kidney failure” can be very frightening and devastating. I had a cat in kidney failure that lived two years very well. She was first treated with IV Fluids, of course, and when she was due to be discharged my vet talked to me about the option of administering subcutaneous fluids a couple of times a week to hydrate her. At first I was terrified and very nervous about doing this, and was trying to talk her into doing it herself. After she had me do it with her , I found that it was quite a simple procedure. We set up an area in our kitchen where the fluid bag could hang at the right height, and a comfortable spot upon which she could sit or lay down while she was treated. I was totally amazed at how she perked up after an hour or so after the treatment, with her appetite returning and her attitude and playfulness improving! I soon learned that many other folks were doing the same thing and this was a fairly commonplace p
