Sure he can survive, but he will have lost a lot of weight and will be really set back in his growth. This will also be a prime moment for him to develop illness since he won’t be as healthy due to not eating. Shedding he should be fine with (if he’s had problems with that in the past, it’s due to not enough humidity which is something that needs to be taken care of right away), and it’s good that your mom will man the heating lamps (putting them on timers will work too, you can get them from pretty much any hardware store, even walmart or target should carry them).
