And a man was treated for back injuries after the malfunction, during which smoke and debris shot into the air and the ride’s cars rolled back into the boarding area, said Meghan Gardner, a spokeswoman for Knott’s Berry Farm. The ride was shut down immediately and will remain closed while the state Division of Occupational Safety and Health and the Buena Park amusement park investigates, Gardner said. Paramedics had to pull the man, who complained of back and neck injuries, from the ride, said Capt. George Casario of the Orange County Fire Authority.
