How long will it take to house a homeless person?

0

If you are accepted as being homeless unintentionally and have a priority need for accommodation, the length of time you wait will depend upon the areas you have said you want to live in, the number of properties becoming vacant in those areas and the number of people who may have been accepted before you but not yet housed. The average wait is 4-6 months but this can vary tremendously If you are homeless and do not have a priority need, the length of time you wait will be dependant upon how many points you are awarded by Hereward Housing. The Council may be able to award points because you are homeless but you will need to have an appointment with a Housing Adviser first. Please refer to the Hereward Housing lettings policy for an explanation of how points are awarded. The lettings policy is currently under review and is therefore subject to changes being made.
