WSDOT completed a final design and advertised for bids in September 2008. Construction takes approximately 18 months, and the first vessel is scheduled to be delivered in spring 2010. The shipyard contract will include an incentive for early delivery and WSDOT is doing everything possible to find ways to accelerate the construction schedule for the new ferries.
