How long will Amanda be in the hospital?
Amanda was in PICU much longer than average. We had hoped she would be out after ten days or so, but she was in for over five weeks, because of her bout of acute rejection and her lung problems. We then expected her to be in the transplant wing for about six weeks total, if there was no more severe rejection and her organs began to work acceptably. It’s now been two months. She’s had another bout of rejection, pneumonia, a lung infection, a collapsed lung, and a severe reflux problem that is requiring more surgery. We can only hope that this surgery will put her back on the path to recovery.
