How long will a strike slip fault caused earthquake usually last?

Hi, Well fault movement happens extremely rapidly due to the immense amount of stress that has been built up so I’m not too sure if you can put a length on it. If you mean how long the seismic effects that we call an earthquake lasts I believe it varies on how much energy has been released. Small fault movements happen all the time and send out seismic waves that only precise instruments can detect however large movements send out several types of waves that reach a point at different times so the earthquake will last until all these waves have decreased enough in amplitude. As for the most dangerous, I don’t believe strike/slip faults are the worst but I’m not positive.
