How long was john the baptist ministry?
Re: “. . .probably his whole life.” But remember, it was a life cut short (no pun) when his head was removed by Herod and delivered to Salome. How long his career was–I don’t think that was mentioned in scripture. Depictions of his head on a platter seem to show a fairly youngish man – no white beard – but how artist could be sure is not apparent. Bible (and historical . . .) does seem to indicate that John’s ministry (among numerous itinerant preachers of the day) slightly antedated, but was largely contemporaneous with that of Jesus. Bible accounts indicate Jesus learned of John’s death so, since John seems to have also witnessed the advent of Jesus’ ministry, we can surmise his ministry to have lasted perhaps as much as slightly longer, but perhaps somewhat shorter than that of Jesus. The Bible also indicates that John was in-utero at about the time of Jesus’ conception, another indication that both of the two had just reached full, 30ish, adulthood at the times of their deaths. Si
