How long until Antarctica has no glaciers?
I don’t know. But, the glaciers in Antarctica are moving towards the sea. The very thick layer of ice on the coldest part is laced with about 200 LIQUID lakes underground and they lubficate the flow of glacier ice to the sea. How do they know this? They found this out with some satellite technology, you can read about it in Wikipedia. “Lake Vostok (Russian: восток, “east”) is the largest of more than 140 subglacial lakes found under the surface of Earth’s southern-most continent— Antarctica. It is located at 77° S 105° E, beneath Russia’s Vostok Station, 4000 metres (13,000 feet) under the surface of the central Antarctic ice sheet. It is 250 km long by 50 km wide at its widest point, thus similar in size to Lake Ontario, and is divided into two deep basins by a ridge. The water over the ridge is about 200 m (650 feet) deep” The glaciers in Greenland are moving at a faster rate. Lake superior is drying up and all its water came from glaciers.
