How Long to Grill a Steak?
The length to grill s steak will vary depending on how thick your cut of meat is. 1/2 – 1 inch is the average thickness of a steak. A general rule for steaks that are 1/2 – 1 inch thick is to cook them for 7-12 minutes for a medium rare steak and 11-16 minutes for a medium steak. Be sure to have your grill completely heated before you put your steaks on the grill, and flip them only once, about half way through cooking. However, it is important to know that all grills will cook differently, and some even cook half as long as others. So therefore the best thing to do to know how long to cook a steak for is to purchase a meat thermometer. They are pretty cheap and do a fantastic job at telling you if your meat is done to however you would like it cooked.
