To bulk up like a natural bodybuilder, it generally takes 3+ years of working out (and eating the right way) as if it was a second job. Generally it takes 5+ years. I’ve been lifting for 5 years (though I’ve made many stupid mistakes that slowed me down, and my genetics are geared towards being small); I just competed in bodybuilding for the first time. I didn’t do so good. By the time I WIN my weight class (if ever), it will probably be after 7-10 years of weight lifting. For men trying to bulk up, not knowing this is killer. Many guys give up thinking they can’t get bigger, and they don’t know that they were in the beginning of a successful muscle building journey! For women, getting bulking and muscular on ACCIDENT is unlikely. (Worse comes to worse, a woman can ease off of weight training, and the muscle will go away.)
