How long till we can move kittens away from wherever they were given birth?
A mother cat will look for what she considers a safe place to delivery her kittens, and the closet probably seemed a good choice. If she has lived with you for some time, she probably trusts you and will allow you to move her and her kittens to another location. This could be facilitated by placing a large box in the closet and moving the kittens and mom into that location first. Once she has established that as her nest, then you can move the box to another location. Keep in mind that moving to a new home might upset her and make her more protective of her kittens. It would be best if you found a safe room that she and the kittens can remain in while you move the rest of the house. Place a large sign on the door warning people not to go in or open the door. Once you have moved everything to the new place, you can set up a safe location there and come back for mama and her kittens.
