Yes the stress of the surgery and/or anesthesia can disrupt the hair growth cycle causing hair loss. Usually it is temporary and reversible as long as the body adjusts to the disturbance fairly quickly. How soon the hair growth cycle repairs depends on other factors such as how well the healing/recovery process is going, the overall physical and emotional health of the individual, adequate nutrition to support recovery etc. Extra nutritional support could be helpful. Normally the shedding begins to taper off and normal growth resumes within 6-9 months after surgery.
