How long the hair grown from the transplant will stay in place? Will it fall out in the future?
In general, survival of transplanted follicles is one of the most topical issues of hair transplant logy and is determined by the number of factors. In the beginning of 1990ies B. Limmer concluded by his pioneering research that transplanted micro grafts have high potential of survival – 80 to 90%, depending on time interval from taking to implanting. D. Seager in 1997 proved that follicular units have higher potential for survival than micro grafts. Today it is out of the question, that if hair grafting is performed by qualified personnel using modern methods, hair grows from nearly every transplanted follicle. Our investigations at our clinic demonstrated that even in unfavorable conditions, when hair has to be implanted into the scars or extremely close to each other, survivability of follicles is close to 100% (see “Scientific Publications”). As for the hair grown out of transplanted follicles, it is virtually permanent (principle of “genetic dominance” by N. Orentreich, see above)
