How long of a span was there in between when Empire shut down and Full Moon began?
Probably a weekend. Well, the real answer is you do this long enough and unless your unbelievably blessed and lucky. You wind up either making a lot of movies and they’re distributed by all sorts of companies over the years, or you try to keep some control and you ultimately wind up releasing movies under your own banner. Well, that was always the intent, but as the company gets bigger and you need funding, you bring in partners and suddenly you’re doing a bunch of things for the wrong reasons, and it’s almost like a train that’s hard to get off. So, I mean in my career, which I hope is only barely halfway over, I was involved first with a number of distributors and I learned the hard way that you really need to have some control of your movies. So basically in the 70’s I made movies and they went every which way. They went to small distributors, they went to Avco / Embassy, they went to CBS / Fox, they went to Universal…so you know I was sort of journeyman filmmaker guy living from
