How long left do you think a 20 year old 16.3 tb mare will have?
I bought a TWH gelding in his 30’s for my daughter to learn to ride. Paid $300, invested in vet care, dental, and senior feed. She had three wonderful years playing with that horse. To this day, we feel he is the best horse we ever owned. With good care and feed, and do keep them excercised (with weight limits of course), they can live a long time, giving you many years of fun and teach you things you didn’t know about horses! I love the old ones! She may need a suppliment for arthritis, but don’t baby her too much. Unless she has heaves (coughing-and even that can be managed), she needs to keep working to stay healthy and be happy. I’m old, I know, you gotta keep moving! Being a couch potato will kill you.
