How long it takes to become an accountant?

It depends on the educational level. There are community colleges that offer a two year program of study in accounting. Typically, it is an associates of applied science degree designed to give the student all the expertise necessary to enter the work force in entry level positions upon completion of the degree. However, it was not designed for transfer to a four year college or university, should the student wish to continue his/her education. Personally, if you wish to become an accountant, it is strongly recommended you pursue a bachelor’s degree in accounting, especially if you plan to become a CPA. This would take four years as a full-time student provided you take the degree as prescribed by the college or university.
