How long is the water in inflatable childrens pools safe to keep if there is no filter?

It depends on the weather, how often it is used, and if you add chemicals. I have a covered 4 by 7 foot 22 inch deep inflatable pool, about 300 gallons, so it is not reasonable to keep refilling it. I have had water in mine for a few WEEKS. I add 3 teaspoons of “shock” to it… it has chlorine in it. (Bag of shock is less than $4.00) I add this when I use the pool, about it once or twice a week. rub down the sides and bottom with a rag and add shock when I get out. They do make chemicals for “kiddie pools” but it is basically the same thing, but in a smaller more concentrated pill jar for less than $10. If you want it keep it clean and clear you could get technical and test the ph and put chlorine in it as necessary. Test kits are less than $12, test strips cost more. I do not test it; my mentality is it is cleaner than a pond! If I was using this pool for younger children, I’d probally do things more “by the book” as their skin would be more sensitive to the chemicals. I just googled

2 days after that it gets slimy and alge begins to grow and it becomes a breeding ground for mosquitos. Plus leaving the water in is always a risk for drowning small children, even animals, i had a kitten drown once in a childs pool so be carful.
