How long is the PERM recruitment period?
As a big change of the PERM regulation, there is no mandatory length of the recruitment period for the whole campaign so long as the recruitment activities meet the requirements. According to PERM regulations, all majority recruitment activities must be conducted within the 30 – 180 day timeframe. One of the three additional steps required for professional occupations may takes place within 30 days prior to the submission of the PERM application. However, none of the recruitment activities may take place more than 180 days prior to filing the application. Technically, an employer may complete all recruitment activities within 30 days. This is because the job order has a mandatory 30-day period of posting. All other recruitment activities may be conducted concurrently during this period. Therefore, a PERM case must be submitted within 60 days from the date start of the first recruitment activities.
