How long is the HIP valid for?
The components of the HIP are valid for different lengths of time. The EPC is valid for 10 years from the lodgement date. If recommendations are carried out which will improve the energy rating, then a new one should be instructed by the owner. Generally the searche results are valid for 6 months, after which they are considered by some solicitors to be “out of date”. If this is the case, then they may ask for a new search or searches to be instructed. Most HIP providers will charge for the renewal of the necessary components.
